In the tv special, "David Blaine: Street Magic", what they did not see is how many times Blaine messed the trick up. This requires knowledge of angles.

See how he stands at a "backwards" 45degree angle. In the clip, he has his left foot about an inch off the floor. What you do not see is the tip of his right foot. His right foot, he has all of his foot off the ground, apart from the ball of his feet near his toes. He put all of his right foot up in the air but uses his toes to push up.
